YOUTH FOOTBALL: CORSHAM United played host to Trowbridge Town in a thoroughly entertaining match in the under nines division of the Wiltshire Times and News Mid-Wilts Youth and Minor League.
The team were level at half-time, Sam Thomson equalising for Corsham with a powerful shot into the roof of the net from outside the box.
Corsham took the lead early in the second half with a second from Thomson and Ben Wyborn was rewarded for some excellent forward play to make it 3-1 with a fine goal.
Soon afterwards Corsham tormented the Trowbridge defence with more persistent runs to earn a penalty which Thomson converted powerfully for his hat-trick. Keiran Tinsell rounded off this good natured match where supporters witnessed some excellent individual play from Trowbridge, but the dedicated team play from the home side saw them turn out winners.
Under 10s
WESTBURY Youth took the lead through Elliot Baroud after soaking up some early pressure from visitors Warminster Highbury A.
Baraud collected the ball on the edge of the area and drove it home through a sea of legs. Warminster then increased the pressure and were rewarded with two quick goals late in the half. In an evenly matched second half both teams had good chances, with Warminster being able to convert one of theirs for a 3-1 win.
Under 11s
MELKSHAM Park overcame Castle Combe Colts in a five-goal thriller.
They managed to finally get the better of their hosts when goals came from Josh Ovens (2) and Matthew Jenkins.
Goals from Luke Purvis (2) and James Lindsay were not enough for Warminster Highbury in their game away to Castle Combe Colts as the home side hit back to secure a narrow 4-3 win.
Under 12s
JAMES Morrison (2) and James Warner were the scorers for Corsham Boys as they overcame the challenge of Castle Combe Colts to win 3-0.
The Chippenham derby between Town and Westinghouse resulted in a narrow win for the visitors. Joe White scored for the hosts and James Hofstad brought the scores level before a header from a corner in the final minutes gave the visitors a 2-1 win.
The game between home side Trowbridge Wanderers and Warminster Highbury was decided in the last minute from the penalty spot when Jack Adcock stepped up and sscored for Wanderers.
Under 13s
CORSHAM United made home advantage tell against Pewsey Vale and ran out 5-1 winners, with goals from Jake Marshall, Tamlyn Goodrich, Michael Clarke, Zac Scully and Aaron Neill.
South Newton and Wishford continued their push for silverware with a comprehensive 16-0 win over a depleted Lavington Boys.
Scott Hibberd led the way with five goals, followed by Lewis Marchmont with a hat-trick. Richard Tutton, Alex Williamson and Ashley Simmonds all hit doubles and the total was completed by goals from Rod Adlam and Charles Aldridge (penalty).
Chippenham Town and Melksham Park shared six goals and the points in a very entertaining game. Daniel Clements, Jamie Fyall and Nathan Phillimore scored for the home side, with Michael Perrott and Callum Simpson (2) replying.
Bath Arsenal stayed top of the table following an 11-0 romp against Corsham Boys. Scott Sinclair scored six and Luke Sellars grabbed a double. Other goals came from David Thompson, Ross Presley and Jack Wyatt.
Westbury Youth's recent run of defeats continued when they travelled to Devizes and went down 6-1. Nick Sleeman's goal was the only plus factor as the home side scored through Tom Slater (3), Ricky Franklin (2) and Patrick Preece.
Under 14s Blue Division
WESTINGHOUSE Youth were at home to Warminster Highbury and both goalkeepers maintained clean sheets at the break.
Highbury battled hard but Westinghouse were first on the score sheet through Charlie Harris before Mark Breffit brought the game level.
The game was played in good spirit and the draw was a fair result.
Under 14s Red Division
CHIPPENHAM Town Rangers ran out victors for the third time this season against Westbury Youth.
It was a fairly even game throughout with just one goal separating the two sides, scored by Daniel Creswell after 18 minutes. Rangers created more clear cut chances and should have wrapped up proceedings in the second half when Fabian Prangle, who has been deadly all season, blazed over the crossbar from 12 yards and then had his penalty kick superbly saved by the Westbury goalkeeper.
Creswell then had a great snap-shot saved by the Westbury keeper. Rangers just about deserved their win and remain in third place.
Jordan Ispinill, Liam Hill and Daniel Baker (2) scored for Devizes in their 4-1 away win against Shaw, Martin Garstang replying.
Under 15s Blue Division
AFTER a goal-mouth scramble Josh Brigham put visitors Bath Arsenal ahead with a volley against Westbury Youth.
Bath created many chances throughout the game with Westbury looking strong on the break leading to a final score of 5-2 to the visitors.
Bath's goals came from Daniel Straffen, Blake Kendall and two more from Josh Brigham to complete his hat-trick. P Gillingham and R Shergold replied for Westbury.
Adam Gainey added four more goals to this season's tally as FC Chippenham ran out 13-0 home winners against South Newton and Wishford. Chippenham's other goals came from Chris Beasley (2), Jamie Lyons, Carl Everett (3) and Aaron Merryweather (3).
Under 15s Red Division
ASHLEY Carroll gave Melksham Park the lead in their away game against Corsham Boys.
Corsham drew level before the break with a fine strike from Warren Jones. Corsham dominated the second half and ran out 5-1 winners with goals from Shane Mitchell, Scott Lye and Chris Andrews (2).
A good game of football was played out between home side Pewsey Vale and Frome Collegians. Pewsey snatched the three points in the last three minutes with a final score of 3-2. It takes two teams to make a good game and Pewsey extend their thanks to Frome for playing their part. Scorers for Pewsey were T Hurkett (2) and L Flippance.
Home side Amesbury Juniors and Malmesbury played a very competitive game which saw the visitors with most of the play in the first half and taking a 2-0 lead into the second half. The remainder of the match was more even with both sides keeping clean sheets.
Devizes Town Youth were 2-0 ahead until the last five minutes in their home game against Chippenham Town Rangers when Rangers scored two late goals to end the game all square at 2-2. Devizes' goals came from Nathan Moffat and an own goal, with Luke Gullick and Dave Nolan replying for Rangers.
Under 16s Blue Division
BATH Arsenal turned a 1-0 half-time lead into a 3-0 victory at the final whistle in their away game against Swindon Vultures.
Under 16s Red Division
A VERY tight first half ended at 1-1 with goals by home side Cricklade's Ben Hollingshead and Trowbridge FC's Daniel Filer.
Cricklade were much the stronger side in the second half, scoring another three goals through Ben Carter, Rob Walker and Tom Green to leave the final score at 4-1.
Pewsey Vale played like the team at the top of the division, only defeated once this season, in their away game against FC Chippenham 2nds.
Pewsey played some good football in the first half resulting in an 18 yard shot from Tom Last finding the target followed by a goal from Danny Burton from the penalty spot giving the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead.
At the restart FC Chippenham goalkeeper, Calvin Page and defender Chris Candall failed to clear a high cross resulting in Kevin Montague heading home to make it 3-0.
Chippenham made three substitutions and rearranged their formation, leaving three up front and placing all the pressure on the Pewsey back four.
Just minutes later following a fine solo run up the middle Alex Orledge put Chippenham back in the game followed by a fine strike from Tom Freegard to bring the game to 3-2.
In the last minutes Chippenham's Gary Robinson was brought down in the penalty area and he got up. Robinson stood up and hit home to bring the game level at 3-3. Both teams were commended for a fine game of football refereed superbly by Carl Page.
Under 17s
SALISBURY City ran out 9-2 away winners against Lavington Boys, with Cullip scoring twice for the home side.
