NEARLY 90 senior citizens from Burbage and surrounding villages were treated to a Christmas lunch and entertainment by the Good Companions Club on Wednesday.
The lunch was held in the village hall, where the guests were treated to a glass of sherry before sitting down to a full three course Christmas lunch prepared and cooked by volunteers organised by Mary Powell.
Tim Curnick from Southgrove Farm donated five turkeys and his wife Sue made and gave all the Christmas puddings.
Mrs Powell, wife of parish council chairman John Powell, said: "We always get a lovely lot of helpers from the village and the Good Companions committee members also help out."
The OAPs were entertained with carols sung by children from Burbage village school.
A grand raffle raised £200 towards the purchase of an ECG machine at the local doctors' surgery.
