JULIA Drown, Labour MP for South Swindon, has secured a meeting with local government minister, Sally Keeble, to discuss the problems caused by repeated road works.
Speaking in Parliament, Ms Drown asked if the minister would agree to meet with her and local government representatives to discuss ways in which co-ordination of companies could be improved to minimise the disruption to road users.
Afterwards, she said: "The government has made progress on this issue and the new fining system that they have introduced will certainly make a difference. However, more needs to be done.
"My constituents and people up and down the country should not have to be inconvenienced because companies cannot plan and co-ordinate when work will be carried out."
I welcome the news of the meeting with Sally Keeble and look forward to further progress."
