CAMPAIGNERS from three south Wiltshire villages are joining forces to stop the spread of telecommunication masts in and around their villages.
Residents in Amesbury and Deptford have contacted campaigners in Woodfalls in the wake of an announcement that the mobile phone company Orange plans a 25m mast on a site in Slab Lane, Woodfalls.
The news came as a surprise to Woodfalls residents, who knew nothing about the plan until four residents living close to the site received letters from Orange.
The letters gave details of the intention to erect a metal tree mast, complete with metal branches holding three antennae and two dishes.
Following last week's Journal story about the Woodfalls proposal, Julia Powell, who lives opposite the site, was contacted by campaigners in Amesbury and Deptford.
They are trying to persuade Salisbury District Council to stop the erection of a 15m mast with three antennae and three dishes between Church Lane and Flower Lane in Amesbury town centre, and a 12.5m mast at Deptford.
Mrs Powell said they had had a constructive discussion and were planning a joint meeting early in the New Year to pool their resources.
