FRIENDS and Army colleagues were this week mourning the tragic death of Tidworth soldier Glen Hudson - the innocent victim of a Bournemouth nightclub shooting.

Bombardier Hudson was shot in the head when he was partying with hundreds of other people at the Elements nightclub in Fir Vale Road, Bournemouth, during the early hours of last Friday.

He was rushed to Poole Hospital but lost his fight for life on Friday afternoon, and the police investigation into the shooting became a murder hunt.

Bdr Hudson (35), an Army physical training instructor who worked in his spare time as a bouncer at the Chapel nightclub in Salisbury, was known as a gentle giant by friends and colleagues.

Police say he was a totally innocent victim of the shooting.

Det Supt Steve Mortimore of Dorset police, who is heading the murder investigation, told a press briefing that the bullet - believed to have been fired from a handgun - had not been intended for Bdr Hudson.

He said: "There was a dispute elsewhere in the club and Glen was simply standing in the wrong place at the wrong time."
