ROY EVANS has become another 'statistic' in a sorry saga of instability at the County Ground.
He is the fourth managerial 'casualty' in just three years.
Jimmy Quinn, Colin Todd and Andy King all enjoyed a relatively brief tenure in the Town hot seat before saying farewell.
Chairmen have come and gone in almost as quick succession four in a little more than 18 months.
Cliff Puffett, Terry Brady and Danny Donegan have barely had time to check out the chairman's chair before disappearing out of the door.
It was hoped Evans' appointment would bring an end to the revolving door scenario. Sadly, the curse of the County Ground has struck again.
It is strangely ironic that Roy Evans has quit, triggering the very thing he wanted to prevent.
Let me take you back to August 3 of this year.
Roy Evans was introduced to the press and laid out his key to a successful future.
He said: "I hope we (Roy and Razor Ruddock) can bring a bit more stability to the club because there have been too many changes of managers and directors.
"I think you can only achieve stability if you have a level playing field and get everyone pulling together."
Sadly, that stability has eluded Evans and he now becomes yet another sad story in the recent history of Swindon Town Football Club.
This list makes for unhappy reading: Glenn Hoddle 1991-93, John Gorman 1993-94, Steve McMahon 1994-98, Jimmy Quinn 1998-2000, Colin Todd 2000, Andy King 2000-2001, Roy Evans 20001.
