MALMESBURY produced a fine second half display to defeat Pewsey Vale on a frosty surface on Saturday 15th December.
The home side began by attacking deep into Malmesbury territory, but fell behind when a Roberts' penalty failed to find touch.
The Pewsey full back fumbled his catch, giving Roberts the chance to collect the ball and pass to centre King, who scored against the run of play.
After taking a five-point lead into the interval, Malmesbury attacked from the first whistle playing down the slope in the second half. David Plant scored their second try after a diagonal run from John Hough, before King and then Thompson scored after some fine work by the threequarters. Chris Hunt converted Thompson's try and King completed his treble after a movement in which all the backs took part.
Pewsey scored a try in the right hand corner, but it proved little more than a consolation effort.
The scheduled away game between the Minety and Fairford on Saturday was cancelled because the pitch was frozen.
Minety 2nds travelled to take on the Trowbridge 2nds in the preliminary round of the Dorset and Wilts Second XV Cup and were beaten 26-0 by the home side.
This Saturday both the first and second teams are due to travel to Gillingham in Dorset to take on North Dorset. The first XV fixture will be a league game in Dorset and Wilts Division One.
