HOUSEHOLDERS are being urged to think about the amount of waste they throw away this Christmas and what they do with it.
After complaints about last year's service, West Wiltshire District Council has pulled all the stops out to ensure everyone's rubbish is collected each week, although they may not be on the normal day.
Normal collections will resume on Monday, January 6.
The district's two household waste recycling centres at Furnax Lane in Warminster and next to the Christie Miller sports centre in Bowerhill, Melksham, will be open for most of the holiday period.
The Melksham centre, open between 9am and 4pm, and the Warminster Centre, open from 9am to 6pm, will both run as normal, except they will close at lunchtime on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Cllr Bob Brice, leader of West Wiltshire District Council, said: "Christmas always generates a huge amount of waste and I would urge people to think about what they are throwing away.
"We have recycling facilities across the district, and both household recycling centres will take old Christmas trees for shredding."
A skip service for garden waste, textiles and metals, will be available at the Upper Broad Street car park in Trowbridge, between 7am and 4pm on December 21, December 28 and January 4.
