WORK will soon be able to start on west Wiltshire's much-needed new Citizens Advice Bureau.
Planning permission has been granted to create a new Wiltshire district office at a former Indian takeaway in Mill Street, Trowbridge.
Manager, Sarah Cardy, said: "We are really pleased to take this step forward.
We just need to wait for our charitable status to be confirmed, which should be any day now, and work can begin."
The district has been without its own bureau since funding problems forced the offices in Trowbridge, Melksham, Westbury and Warminster to close suddenly last summer.
Cases that would have been dealt with at these offices have been pushed onto neighbouring CABs, such as Chippenham.
This has meant greater pressure on staff and inconvenience for the public.
The new district office, to be known as West Wiltshire-Wide CAB, should be ready to open for business in May next year.
In the meantime, the team will be offering a temporary service in Melksham and Warminster from January.
A telephone advice line, 0845 1203737, will be up and running from January 2.
