FIREFIGHTERS who posed for a raunchy calendar are well on the way to selling every copy printed.

The two crews, based at Chippenham Fire Station, are aiming to sell all 2,000.

The calendar is proving a major hit with 1,000 sold in a week.

The crews are raising money for the families of New York firefighters killed in the September 11 attacks.

The firefighters had planned to print 1,000 but have doubled the print run.

Temporary leading firefighter Jack Nicholson said: "We are quite amazed by the response so far. In the first couple of days we were banking £500 a day and it seems they just keep selling and selling.

"People have said they really like it in black and white because it gives it more atmosphere.

"If we sell all of them we will be on our way to making nearly £8,000 and that would be brilliant."

The firefighters will be selling the calendars in Emery Gate shopping centre today and tomorrow.

The calendars are available, priced £4.99, from the Post Office, Newspaper House in Market Place, and the fire station in Dallas Road.
