A MOTORIST has died in the second fatal accident on the A419 near Swindon in less than a week.
An 80-year-old Cricklade man died when he lost control of his car as he headed north on the road last night.
The accident happened when the pensioner became unwell at the bottom of Blunsdon Hill at the junction with Lower Blunsdon.
His car crossed over to the southbound carriageway before stopping.
The driver has yet to be named pending police inquiries to identify him and inform his family.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
A crash on the same stretch of road on Saturday, in which three people were killed, also involved a car crossing the central reservation.
The accidents have led to renewed calls for crash barriers to prevent vehicles crossing onto the opposite carriageway.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen last night's accident.
Anyone who can help with police inquiries is urged to contact PC Steve Love, of Swindon traffic police, on Swindon 528111.
