A MAN who left his girlfriend with a broken nose after headbutting her during a row will spend Christmas behind bars.

Paul O'Sullivan, 38, admitted causing actual bodily harm to Kim Barlow when he appeared before magistrates.

The court heard that O'Sullivan was unlawfully at large at the time of the attack as he had failed to turn up for another hearing to answer a charge of theft. He was also on a community punishment and rehabilitation order imposed for drink driving .

Lynne Henderson, prosecuting, said the attack happened on Monday evening when O'Sullivan was at Miss Barlow's home in Latton Close, Penhill.

She said that when he was interviewed by police he told officers that he had had enough of her but added that he was sorry about what he had done.

O'Sullivan, who told the court he was of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to ABH, theft and failing to surrender to custody. He also admitted breaching the community punishment order.

Magistrates adjourned the case to January 10 for pre-sentence reports and remanded O'Sullivan in custody.
