A RADIO station bidding for a new licence for Swindon is today launching internet transmissions.
Swindon107FM is available on www.swindon107fm.com, broadcasting from studios in the Brunel Centre.
Station chairman Rikki Hunt and DJ Alan Dee are scheduled to flick the switch on the broadcasts at 1.07pm, in front of the Christmas shopping crowds.
Station manger Martin Dallaghan said: "We are expecting thousands of people to see our launch and we believe many of those people will choose to log on to our website and see what all the fuss is about over the Christmas holidays.
"Our intention is to run the first fortnight of the broadcast a broad spectrum of melodious music from the last 40 years, with a genuinely local DJs and a truly local news service."
It will bid if a licence for Swindon becomes available in the next 18 months, and hopes to become the town's third local station alongside Wiltshire Sound and GWR FM.
