A JURY has acquitted a man and a teenager of carrying out a robbery in Swindon.
Swindon Crown Court heard how Gregor McPherson claimed he was robbed of a chain and a wallet by two muggers near the County Ground.
Mohammed Elmi, of Hanwell, London, and a 16-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons, both denied the robbery.
The jury heard how Mr McPherson said he was attacked by two men as he took a short cut home after a night out.
Mr McPherson, who used to live in County Road, said he had been out for a leaving party in Old Town on March 31 as he was moving to Oxford a few days later.
After drinking in a few pubs he said he and about six friends went to The Mission nightclub in Old Town where they stayed until after closing time at 2am the following morning.
He told the jury that he walked a friend to Queens Drive before deciding to cut through a path by the County Ground on his way home and was attacked and robbed.
Judge Tom Longbotham heard how the teenager was due to be sentenced by Judge John McNaught, for a separate matter, on February 22.
He heard Elmi had previously pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article in a public place and adjourned sentencing until January 18, bailing Elmi on condition he live at a named address, report to police, does not obtain travel documents and cooperate with the probation service.
