I have been asked by my members to express their joy at the visit to Malmesbury by the Queen and Prince Philip.
It was a wonderful day, the weather was kind and the welcome given by the people of the town was genuinely warm.
We would also congratulate the Gazette on the coverage of the event. The souvenir supplement will be sent to many "exiles" around the world and will be kept as a lasting reminder of a very happy day.
The same cannot be said for the miserable coverage of this memorable day by the television companies from them we got the same miserable diet of bad news or sensation and a few fleeting images.
I am sure there will be many glasses raised this Christmas drinking the Queen's continued good health and let us hope we can find some way of joining in the celebrations next year when she celebrates her golden jubilee 50 years of service.
