Further to the article in the Gazette last week about my village shop, I would like to make the following points.
Yes, the future of the shop is under review. However, the tone of the article implied that I was critical of the villagers.
I would like to make it clear that I have never criticised the villagers how could I? I am one of them myself.
I have never issued an ultimatum or a warning, but seek simply to point out that business has been slow and that without increased support there is a doubt about the shop's future.
Like most village shops across the country, my business is struggling against the big supermarkets.
I have greatly enjoyed running the shop and have in no way been "soured by the experience" as your article put it. Quite the opposite in fact, as I very much want to keep this valuable asset open.
