RESIDENTS of Boscombe Down are uniting to fight extra house-building on their doorstep.
Fierce opposition has greeted a social housing plan for 15 new properties on Lyndhurst Road by Beacon Housing Association, an organisation which is part of the Nucleus Housing Group.
Residents queued up to outline their concerns about the proposed development at a packed public meeting at the recreation club last week.
Boscombe Down action group leader Alan Johnson said: "Residents are not at all impressed by these plans.
"They do not want social houses on a private estate.
"This has been a nice grass area since the 1950s but, the way things are going, there will be no green spaces left around Amesbury."
The planning application is the latest in a series of controversial Beacon Housing Association proposals around Durrington and Amesbury.
Representatives of the Beacon Housing Association have been invited to a meeting of Amesbury Town Council to discuss their plans for Lyndhurst Road.
