SWINDON'S new radio station has gone on air but you can only listen to it if you have a computer.
The station, called Swindon FM, started internet transmissions at the weekend.
Based in studios at the Brunel Centre, it hopes to keep a high profile so that it can apply for a permanent licence over the next 18 months.
The station was granted permission for a month-long test transmission on 107FM earlier this year.
Its current internet service is available by logging on to www.swindon107fm.com.
Station manager Martin Dallaghan said: "We are broadcasting a broad spectrum of music with genuinely local presenters."
He claims the two stations currently serving Swindon, GWR FM and BBC Wiltshire Sound, do not provide a local service for people in the town. Much of GWR's transmissions go country-wide and many Wiltshire Sound shows are broadcast across the county.
He hopes the Radio Authority will make a new licence available for Swindon so that Swindon FM can become the town's third permanent station.
