The majority of those so-called enemy aliens on the Isle of Man were mostly refugees from the Nazis. They were swept up indiscriminately and interned.

Much later Churchilll and others realised their mistake and released the anti-Nazis who went on to serve in the Forces and on intelligence work.

Among them were the musicians who formed the Amadeus group who met there and went on to give enormous pleasure playing to the public and troops during the war.
