PEOPLE in need in Chippenham enjoyed a special treat at Christmas.
The Borough Lands Charity, based in the Market Place, handed out Christmas food luxuries to families and pensioners in need.
The charity first launched the Christmas hamper scheme three years ago and each year welfare staff identify those who need help the most over the festive period.
Thirty-seven hampers were distributed this Christmas.
Welfare officer Christine Jenkins, who has been with the charity for over two years, said the hampers were distributed to those people the charity had been in contact with over the last 12 months.
"There are a lot of people we see throughout the year and many of these have been given a hamper this Christmas," said Mrs Jenkins.
Hampers have been given to single pensioners and families with young children.
Many of those in need are referred to the charity via Wiltshire Social Services and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
The non-perishable goodies were donated by Chippenham's Iceland store and treats included tins of fruit, Christmas puddings and much more.
Iceland delivered the hampers to doorsteps throughout the town.
"Iceland has been very helpful. We bought and put the hampers together, but the store delivered them for us. The hampers were a nice surprise for many," said Mrs Jenkins.
