THE campaign to save RAF Lyneham from threatened closure is being backed by North Wiltshire district councillors.
Worried councillors have vowed to ensure they are fully consulted by the Ministry of Defence over the north Wiltshire base's future.
They took the stand following fears the MoD would present the area with a fait accompli.
Three bases are under review RAF Lyneham, St Mawgan and RAF Brize Norton.
Conservative group leader Toby Sturgis said: "The way we have been told about this is very worrying. I urge we get our feet under the table during their writing of this report and get our facts together.
"We should work with the relevant county councils involved as well as Lyneham Parish Council. I think it is very worrying the way these ministry reviews are carried out."
Labour councillor Steve Wheeler warned the council to take action quickly.
He said: "They are going to decide and then consult. We need to be proactive."
