DINNER lady Margaret Vince hung up her apron for the last time last Friday after working 30 years at the same school.

Mrs Vince, 62, first began working at Newtown Primary School, Trowbridge as a playground supervisor but, after a year, moved into the kitchen where she has been serving-up meals ever since.

She said: "I have very much enjoyed my time here and I have met some lovely people.

"I have seen so many children go through the school. It makes me feel old when I see them in the street, pushing their own babies in prams."

Her own two children, Lesley, 38, and Ian, 36, went to the school and now have families of their own.

Her husband, David, 64, will be retiring in July and the couple plan to spend more time together and with their family.

Mrs Vince has not made any plans for her retirement, except to get a well-deserved rest and to take her dog, Barney, on longer walks.

Staff and pupils at the school said their farewells last week, giving her gift vouchers, flowers and a present she was saving to open later.

Mrs Vince said: "I will miss it but it was just the right time to retire."
