DURSLEY Arms almost pulled off a real Christmas cracker against Division One leaders Broughton Gifford.

Broughton led three times before a late Paul Bendell equaliser rescued a point the for the champions.

After last week's 5-2 success Gifford took the lead through Chris Stiles (2) and Richard Nash, only for Shaun Daniels (penalty) and Derek Pow (2) to reply on each occasion.

Robin Walker put Arms into a 4-3 lead before Bendell drove home an 80th minute point saver.

Division Two leaders Trowbridge Town Reserves also received a couple of shocks before they clinched a 3-2 top-of-the-table win at Freshford United.

Two superb volleys from Lewis Haldane put Town on top before Steward Donohoe and Russell Stritch (penalty) hit back. Another fine strike, this time from Dave Percival, clinched Town's victory and inflicted United's third successive defeat.

Steeple Ashton were not to be outdoneas they abruptly ended the dramatic revival of Lavington and Easterton, who were held to a goalless draw thanks to Andy Hallett's spectacular goal-line clearance for Ashton from a Darren Gale effort.

Blue Circle extended their unbeaten run to nine league matches thanks to Liam Williams' late strike against Hilperton. That was enough to put the cement men in second place behind Trowbridge, who still lead by five points.

In Division Three Bradford United 201, with two goals from Jason Uncles and one apiece from Wayne Duggan and Darren Brewer, produced their best display of the season to win 4-0 against Apetito, who were fortunate to have escaped so lightly.

A goal in each half from Damien Mead and Damien Edwards put Frome Sportshouse through to the quarter-finals of the Knockout Cup at Bradford Sports who paid dearly for missed chances.
