REVIEW: The Scratch Band, Rising Sun, Bradford on Avon. If you closed your eyes, you might be forgiven for thinking you were in a smokey, blues filled bar in the States rather than in Bradford on Avon on Saturday night.

Taking you to the land of rhythm and blues were the The Scratch Band, a melting pot of some of the finest local musicians in the area.

Saturday's line up consisted of of Steve Loudoun on vocals, Larry Baker on bass, Phill Crowther on drums and Steve Payne on guitar but the band members can vary from venue to venue.

The concept of the band is for various musicians to get together and play a completely unrehearsed set.

With the combined talents of these four, this was far more than a jam session with covers of songs from Stir It Up to Hoochie Coochie Man to My Girl delighting a packed audience.

And although the band had only decided what to play moments before the gig, their sound had a tight professionalism that many bands who have been together for years would envy.

Don't miss them next time around.
