I SUPPORT Danny Hallett's plea for something to be done about the speed of traffic in College Road in Trowbridge 100 per cent.

I am not sure what he means by there being no speed restrictions because surely we are within the 30mph speed limit area. What I think he means is that there are no traffic calming measures.

Actually, I have been trying to get something done about this problem for years so far all to no avail.

As a result of the accident on November 6 to which Danny refers, in desperation I wrote to the Chief Constable requesting her to consider a police presence with their speed checking equipment.

As with large official organisations it was passed out to the minions at lower levels and so far I have received three separate acknowledgements from three different departments.

The latest, dated November 9, was from Insp Kate Brooks who is the traffic manager.

From the tone of her letter it would seem that she has some sympathy with the problem and says that she has arranged for a traffic officer to carry out checks to establish the scale of the problem. I now await the next letter and we shall see where we go from there.

WH SYMES,

College Road,

Trowbridge
