SWINDON chess players Lewis Martin, of Westlea, Joshua Hall, of Commonweal, and Jack Campaigne, from Sherston, near Malmesbury, became undisputed champions with 100 per cent scores at the Wiltshire Schools chess championships, held at Headlands School.
Joshua, 13, beat last year's champion, Richard Webb, 14, and younger brother Daniel Hall, 11, to take the under-14 title. Richard and Daniel shared the runner-up spot.
Ten year old Lewis also pushed last year's champion, the third Hall brother, Toby, 9, into second place.
Jack, 8, who is currently Wiltshire under 8 champion, can now add the Wiltshire Schools under 9 trophy to his collection.
Eight-year-olds Same Jefferson, of Lethbridge, and Rebecca Dixon-Steele, of Wroughton, shared second place.
The battle was closest in the under-11 section, where last year's champion, Alex Cooper, 11, of Dauntsey Aided, was forced to share the honours with close rival Adam Wiltshire, also 11, of Lethbridge. The girl's title was also shared, between Shivani Jobanputra, 10, of Lawn, and nine year old Charlotte Wood, of Wroughton.
