WHEN Andy and Sue Carruthers sat down for Christmas dinner they had a new guest at the table.
Baby Anastasia Paige Carruthers was born at 4.01am on Christmas Day and the family were back home in time for their festive lunch.
The family were expecting the baby to arrive just before Christmas, but mum Sue, 33, says it is the best present she could ever have.
Sue, a human resources advisor of St Andrew's Ridge, said: "We didn't expect her to be born on Christmas Day and we didn't want to miss out on the fun but to have her and be back home before midday was wonderful.
"Lots of my family were visiting us and they were all thrilled."
Anastasia was born weighing 9lb 5.5oz at Princess Margaret Hospital and joins her older brother Alexander, who is three in February.
Father Andy, 34, who works at Sainsbury's head office, said: "The birth was a bit surreal because it went so quickly, we arrived at the hospital at 2.30am and were out by 11am.
"We came home and had another person sat alongside the Christmas presents. I'm really happy."
