PEOPLE planning to travel by train with First Great Western over the Easter break are being urged to book their seats early and to beware of engineering works.
Extra services are being provided by the Swindon-based train operator to help cope with the expected leisure demand.
Bookings have so far been steady but a last-minute rush is predicted, particularly for Thursday, March 28 the day before the Easter break.
Rail travel on some routes will be affected by engineering work being carried out by Railtrack over the Easter period.
On March 30, 31, and until 2pm on April 1, First Great Western services between Swindon and Worcester Shrub Hill will terminate at Cheltenham Spa, with road transport provided to Ashchurch for Tewkesbury and Worcester Shrub Hill stations. There will also be delays in the Hereford, Swansea and West Wales areas.
To book for Easter, call on 0845 7000 125. Larger groups should contact Group Travel on 0845 7413 777 for details of discounts. Details of train times are available by calling the National Rail Enquiries Service on 0845 7 48 49 50.
On March 28 the twice daily e-mail bulletin giving information on services will also be operating. Subscribe by emailing information.services@firstgroup. com.
