A Corsham woman told magistrates she was unaware she was over the drink-drive limit when she drove home after discussing repairs to her car with a friend.
Kate Mousley, 22, of Chapel Knapp, Gastard, near Corsham, was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £55 and ordered to pay costs of £55 by magistrates in Chippenham on Monday, after pleading guilty to drink-driving on the B3353 near Melksham on February 28.
Mousley has agreed to complete a drink-driving rehabilitation course, which would reduce the length of the disqualification by a third.
She was stopped by police just after midnight on February 28.
A roadside breath test proved positive and a further test at Chippenham police station revealed 49mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
Miss Mousley told the court she had been unaware she was over the limit.
"I would like to apologise, I was not aware of the fact that I was over the limit," she said.
"I had been out with a friend to discuss doing work on my car."
Miss Mousley works in Devizes, 12 miles from her home, and said the driving ban would be a problem, but she would look to use public transport.
