CORSHAM dad Christopher Fry will have no problems sending daughters Jessica and Imogen to university after he won £7,500 in a competition.
Mr Fry, 49, had a letter through the post from an insurance company, guaranteeing him a cash prize if he signed up for three months of free insurance cover.
Being sceptical, Mr Fry, of Ludmead Road, was wary of the marketing ploy and thought at most he would have won a few pounds. His wife Gina was equally doubtful.
But he signed up for the direct debit, which he cancelled three months later.
When he got a phone call from Family Insurance Advisory saying he had won thousands, he was delighted, but only really believed his luck when the cheque cleared.
Mr Fry, a retired banker, said: "I have two girls on the threshold of going to university this year and next year, and although we'd made provisions there was never enough to have totally covered it.
"Now we can definitely afford to send them both. I think this is a case of junk mail paying off."
Jessica, 18, is off to Southampton University next year to read psychology.
Her younger sister Imogen, 17, may be going off to study the year after, depending on whether she chooses to take a gap year. "They say you don't ever get something for nothing, but it seems I have," said Mr Fry.
