AFTER a blank Saturday last weekend Warminster returned to action with a much-changed defence due to four players being suspended.
They found themselves a goal down after only two minutes when the unmarked Steve Hobbs scored with a header following a corner.
Warminster goalkeeper Lloyd Chamberlain then made the first of several fine saves by diving low to his right to deny Matt Deakin.
Richard Shannon then shot just over the bar for Ilfracombe before they increased their lead in the 38th minute when Matt Davids headed over Chamberlain.
In the second half, Richard Wyatt, Jason Guy and Justin Tugwell shot over for Warminster before Shannon blazed over when running through on the left.
In the 74th minute, good work by Guy put Tugwell through on goal but his effort was saved by Ian Holmes.
Chamberlain then foiled Deakin and Darren Robinson with fine saves in quick succession.
Warminster pulled a goal back in the 88th minute when substitute new signing Nick Potter scored with a good lob over Holmes but they were unable to snatch a late equaliser.
