Supporters, team coaches and the players may have thought that we could not sink any lower than we were post Leicester.

However the Saracens defeat revealed new depths of despair for us.

It was a complete non-performance and our frailties were blatantly exposed once the Saracens side set up a little bit of daylight between themselves and us.

The first hour was a display of two sides struggling to find any fluency and once Saracens crept ahead the lack of confidence in the Bath side was cruelly highlighted.

Where next?

We have six games left and have to accept we are in a desperate situation as never before.

This final stretch of the season is as important as any other two-month period in Bath's proud history.

Yes, we are riddled with injury to a number of experienced internationals but those of us in the hotseat have a huge responsibility to stand up and show some character to salvage something from these final six games.

We all have the opportunity to finish this season with heads held high.

This must apply for both our squads of players and also for our supporters.

It cannot be an easy time to be a Bath supporter.

But as the players are now doing we now have to put the season to date out for the bin men and get set for a six-game season.

We are forever grateful for our true supporters and we will need them more than ever at our next home game.

On and off the field, the Rec needs to come alive.

The chase for our new director of rugby continues to attract much speculation, both amongst the staff at Bath Rugby and our supporters.

For the players it is very much wait and see. The new appointment will have a significant impact on the future of all our players.

As such, the right appointment is critical to our survival. But for now this is beyond our control, performing on the pitch is not.
