WILL any member of the county council, district council, Trowbridge town council or the Wiltshire Times over 70 or over 80, please put a sling on one arm, put on odd shoes so that his or her walking is affected (club foot), take a walking stick in the free hand and perambulate the shopping areas of Trowbridge from the police station to the Rose and Crown, Castle Street from Knee's to Cradle Bridge, Back Street to the Post Office and the Town Hall and note how many times they trip or fall on the town's appallingly dangerous pavements.
I have lived in Trowbridge or its environs for 87 years and I have never in my travels in America, Australia or the continent encountered such hazardous walking.
Even the board sidewalks of the 'Wild West' were safer.
Outside the Town Hall the pavement, laid especially for Princess Anne, I believe, two missing stones have been replaced with dollops of tarmac.
I feel inclined to withhold my council tax until I have firm promises from the responsible authorities that 'something will be done soon'.
FRANCES I BUSTED,
Raleigh Court,
Polebarn Road,
Trowbridge.
