IT appears that drivers in Trowbridge have their own traffic laws: Church Street cars parked on pavements, non-disabled parked on disabled bays inside the crossing studs, Silver Street, all along one side, even opposite the scaffold erected at McKays; Manvers Street on the bus stops where the pavement was altered for the low loading buses to pick up passengers; Wicker Hill all down the left side making this one lane instead of two; Bythesea Road, cars leaving multi storey/Asda completely blocking the whole roundabout, stopping all traffic in all directions.

As for the pedestrian area, why is it only closed from 10am until 4pm when other towns close until 6pm in the south west? And why was a gap of approximately 3ft 6in left between the gates when closed? This encourages people to dive through instead of using the crossing, an accident waiting to happen. Perhaps the cameras could be used to catch the many vehicles which speed through after the gates are opened. At 5-5.30pm this area becomes a car park, sometimes more cars than in the multi storey park. Now this area is permanent, can we look forward to the law being enforced re: unloading and loading of lorries and access to off-street parking, making this area safer for all?
