WIZARDS and hobbits were out in force last week as schools across west and north Wiltshire marked National Book Week.
Pupils at many schools across the district dressed up as their favourite book characters for a day. There were more Harry Potters than you could wave a wand at, while Lord of the Rings also proved a popular choice.
At Bratton Primary School, all 180 children, the seven teachers, teaching assistants and office staff dressed up and spent the day working on book-related themes.
Deputy head Annie Spencer said: "It was a really excellent day. The kids made a real effort and the whole school was transformed."
Schools taking part in the week celebrating all things literary could send each child home with a book token. Some schools bought books for the children, ran book swap days and gave books as prizes to the children who came in the best costumes.
