RUNNING a pub is a black-and-white business for landlady Kirsty Brown.
The 28-year-old has recently returned to her home town of Trowbridge as the licensee of the Black Swan in Adcroft Street. Six years ago, she was Britain's youngest landlady when she took on the White Swan in Church Street.
"I've gone from white to black," said Miss Brown, who has spent the last two years running pub-restaurants in Portsmouth and Sandhurst.
At the Black Swan, she is looking to attract younger drinkers and also families at weekends, without destroying the pub's traditional atmosphere.
She said: "We are hoping to keep this as a local boozer, but also offer more for drinkers from 20 upwards."
That will include continuing with live music.
"Having been out of town for a couple of years, I'm a bit out of touch with the music scene. At the White Swan we had bands sending us demo tapes and we really want to start hearing from those again," she said.
