DR MARTENS: After a fine 3-1 win over fellow promotion seekers Solihull on Wednesday, Chippenham Town are firmly in the driving seat for a place in the Dr Martens Premier Division next season.

The Bluebirds have seven games remaining, and boss Tommy Saunders is fully aware that six wins will guarantee promotion.

The Wiltshire side have a decent run in, but a hotly-contested derby at Cirencester tomorrow could prove a potential stumbling block.

Saunders insisted: "Beating Solihull was a great result, but it will mean nothing if we don't get three points at Cirencester on Saturday - and that won't be easy."

The Chippenham manager has never been short of a harsh word for certain rival teams, but Saunders has nothing but praise for Ray Baverstock's outfit.

Said Saunders: "I've got a lot of respect for the people at Cirencester because they haven't got massive support, they haven't got a huge budget, but they keep turning out a side that's competitive in this league.

"We had them watched on Tuesday night, and I'm expecting a very, very difficult game."

Saunders doesn't make a habit of tampering with a winning side, so an unchanged starting eleven is widely expected.

That means a place on the bench for Simon Charity and Adie Mings, and a place in the stands for on loan midfielder Jimmy Fraser.

For Cirencester, the game provides an ideal opportunity to resume their pursuit of a top 10 finish following a disappointing 3-2 home defeat against lowly Redditch on Tuesday.

It would be typical of Ciren's season if they beat a top side after struggling against a lesser outfit.

Boss Baverstock is just hoping that his men put on a better showing than when the teams met at Hardenhuish in December, where Chippenham hit three in the opening 15 minutes.

"I hope we give a better account of ourselves this time," said Baverstock.

"The game was over after a quarter of an hour last time we played. It's important we start well this time."

Baverstock joined in the mutual appreciation between the clubs by praising the work of Saunders during Chipp's promotion drive.

Baverstock said: "I've every respect for what Tommy has done at Chippenham, you can't knock him for that.

"I do think they are beatable though, and it's up to us to take the game to them. We will be looking to win and I'm looking forward to it."

Ciren welcome back Adam Mayo after suspension, and the game will be a milestone for keeper Kevin Sawyer, who makes his 200th appearance.
