Do you love the Mechanics' Institute so much that you could dedicate a poem to it?
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) is celebrating 125 years of looking after the interests of Britain's historic buildings with a poetry competition whether it is a cathedral, a castle, a cottage or even the crumbling former railway workers' centre in Emlyn Square.
The competition closes on May 17 and has three age categories: seven to 11, 12-17, and over 18. Visit www.spab.uk/belovedbuildings or send an SAE to Beloved Buildings, SPAB, 37 Spital Square, London E1 6DY to enter.
