APRIL 1-16: Godspell. Theatre Royal, Bath. A soap star playing Jesus! The disciples would turn in their graves.
But sure enough Aussie soap star and international sex symbol Daniel MacPherson gets to show his holier side, when hit musical Godspell arrives at Bath next month.
The 21-year-old Sydney-born actor, who played Joel in Neighbours for four years, looks set to send English girls (and guys) screaming with delight in his latest theatrical role.
Starring with Robbie William's best mate and popular singing star Jonathan Wilkes and British TV favourite Claire Buckfield, Daniel will alternate the roles of Judas and Jesus in Scott Schwartz's 21st Century take of the musical.
Offered a chance to audition for the role after being spotted in pantomime, Daniel says his acting career has been governed by fate.
Since meeting his long-term manager by the side of an Australian road, his career has snowballed.
He said: "I do believe in fate, everything happens for a reason. I was supposed to be racing on the day I met my manager but came down with glandular fever. It was a total luck of the draw. I never considered acting I was going to study economics but five years later here we are.
"It was very sad to leave Neighbours but it holds good memories for me. I met wonderful friends.
"Luckily enough I was offered the chance to audition for this. I had heard of Godspell but had no idea of its history.
"I feel in love with the music. Regardless of race or gender or belief this show has something for everyone."
Girls are set for a treat as sports fanatic Daniel strips down to the bare essentials for the show. The sex symbol is a little more modest when it comes down to talking about his ever-increasing popularity.
"A sex symbol! These girls should see my in my PJS first thing in the morning. I am plenty single, very single in fact and looking for a nice English girl."
