SOLICITORS have teamed up with council and voluntary sector advice providers to help ensure that Swindon people know their rights.
The new Community and Legal Services Partnership was launched by MP Michael Wills (Lab) at the Steam Museum.
Members of the partnership include around 20 law firms, voluntary sector advice providers like the Citizens Advice Bureau and other advice points like the Safer Swindon Shop. Swindon Council, Age Concern and Wiltshire Law Centre are also members.
The idea is to help all these organisations work together better to provide legal advice, particularly for the less well-off.
Deputy leader of Swindon Council, Brian Ford, (Con, Wroughton) said: "The CLSP benefits the community since it can identify opportunities for joint working."
Those wishing to find out their best first port of call for help with a legal problem can contact the local Community Legal Service helpline on 0845 6081122.
