MAVIS and Kenneth Triggs met and fell in love while working at the dairy. Now they are celebrating 50 years wedded bliss.
Mavis, 72, and Ken, 74, were joined by friends and family from as far as Norwich and Fareham for a special party at the White Hart in Oxford Road yesterday (Friday).
Both were born and bred in Swindon and met for the first time at the dairy, where Mavis, then aged 15, worked in the offices, and Ken, then 16, was an apprentice mechanic.
They had been dating for seven years until tying the knot at Christ Church in 1952.
Asked if it was love at first sight, Ken explained: "I think so, I used to tell her about her blue eyes and how wonderful she was."
Having returned from National Service, Ken went on to work in the building trade with EW Beard, then at Pressed Steel and later as a security official with British Rail.
Mavis later went on to work for the Great Western Railway, British Rail and then at Wise's Bakery until her retirement.
The couple, who live in Wheeler Avenue, Swindon, have two daughters and three grandchildren.
