CHIPPENHAM contributed to their own downfall as they went down 10-6 to Swanage & Wareham in their Dorset & Wilts Cup semi-final.
The high-riding South West Division 2 East side certainly fancied their chances against visitors struggling to find form a league above in South West 1.
But defensive blunders led to both Swanage tries at Allington Field and although Chippenham created enough chances, they could not capitalise.
The home side led at one stage courtesy of two James Barnard penalties.
Swanage's second try was enough to see them through, however, and they now face Salisbury in the county final.
Robert Elford and James Warren were the Swanage try- scorers.
