SCREWFIX DIRECT: Robbie Lardner's resolute Melksham Town side had no answer for a rejuvenated Taunton side.
Melksham's reliable defence failed to contain the rampant visitors, and they promptly slumped to a 3-0 defeat.
Taunton broke the deadlock after 29 minutes, when Mark Gammon's looping cross deceived Melksham keeper Darren Chitty and sailed into the net.
Matt Messenger came close to equalising, but his curling free-kick was well saved by Taunton No 1 Ryan Draper.
The Somerset title-chasers doubled their advantage on the hour. Another Gammon cross caused confusion in the Melksham box, and although Chitty managed a partial clearance, Peter Knox thumped home.
Taunton continued to dominate, but Melksham were offered a lifeline when Messenger was felled in the box.
Nick Tiley stepped up, but his spot-kick was tame and Draper saved comfortably.
Taunton wrapped up victory five minutes from time through substitute Lee Groves.
