Calne Town suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat against relegation rivals Minehead in Division One.
Paul Rankin's men had a great opportunity to climb away from the drop zone for the first time since August.
But Calne failed to beat the side directly above them in the table.
Minehead keeper Ross Ward was the villain of the piece, pulling off a number of fine stops, most notably from Andy Towers.
The decisive moment came on 76 minutes, when Nick Taylor upended Will Giblett in the area and Craig Carr netted from the penalty spot.
Elsewhere in Division One, Corsham stopped the recent rot with a well-earned point at high-flying Shepton Mallet.
Corsham took the lead against the run of play when top scorer John Freegard headed home Craig Tuck's 25th-minute corner.
Shepton Mallett pressed after the break though, and Stuart Ponfield's header on 67 minutes earned the hosts a share of the spoils.
