IN THE second of our new feature series, Cheapest and Dearest, we take a look at Bath's most and least expensive Easter eggs.

Not surprisingly, the Cadbury's Creme Egg which retails at 35p is the region's cheapest chocolate fancy. And, it has to be said, very nice it is too.

However, when it comes to blue chip, top-of-the-range, spare-no-expense chocolate confectionaries, Bath is literally swamped by them.

For example, the cheapest in the upper stratosphere range starts at £65 and can be picked up (if your four-year-old has the strength) at Thorntons in Union Street. Weighing in at 1.7kg, it's a dark chocolate beauty with sugar paste decoration.

And for effect, it all comes wrapped in a beautiful hat box, complete with lime green silk lining.

That however is neither the biggest nor most expensive.

A sumo wrestler of an egg, the Cadbury's 8kg monster is a mere £10 more, but be wary you don't drop it on anyone's foot. According to the Cadbury Caf shop in Union Street, it is the UK's biggest egg.

However, like the Thorton's masterpiece, it too comes without any kind of surprise filling.

If it's a Kinder experience you're after, look no further than Bath's biggest whopper, the Lindt egg from Whittards in Stall Street.

True, it's not as heavy as the Cadbury, weighing in at just 4.2kg, but this is surely an egg of luxury, filled with jewellery from Italy a snip at £99.

For the spoilt child in your life, what more could you want?
