MOTORING: DAIHATSU has launched two leather-trimmed luxury limited editions from its range of compact city cars the Terios Vivid and YRV Lux 50, both available now from dealerships across the UK.
As the Terios Vivid's name implies it is certainly eye-catching, with two-tone red over silver paint, grey and black leather trim and 'Vivid' decals on the black hard rear spare wheel cover. It also sounds good, thanks to its four-speaker CD stereo system..
Featuring around £1,500 worth of extras, at £11,495 on-the-road the Vivid is clearly good value, costing only £515 more than the EL specification model on which it is based.
Like the EL, the Vivid features the same punchy 1.3 litre engine with Dynamic Variable Valve Timing and standard features include full-time four-wheel drive, power steering, driver and passenger airbags, alloy wheels, tinted glass and electric front windows and door mirrors.
Daihatsu's second special edition, the YRV Lux 50, is based on either the 1.3 litre manual Premium Pack or automatic F-Speed YRV.
It features full leather trim, this time in deep red, a panoramic glass roof and metallic silver paint and yet costs only £500 more than the on-the-road price of the YRV Premium Pack (£10,440) and F-Speed (£11,460).
Like its base models, the Lux 50 already has a long list of standard features, including four electric windows and door mirrors, alloy wheels, power steering, air conditioning and ABS brakes with EBD brake assist.
If bought in its F-Speed guise, the Lux 50 also includes the F-Speed's Steershift steering wheel-mounted fingertip gear change system.
Managing director of Daihatsu Vehicle Distributors Limited, Andrew Edmiston, said: "Daihatsu is rapidly building a reputation as a world leader in greener compact city cars with strong levels of performance yet low emissions.
"Each of our new limited editions will provide owners with a luxury in-car environment while simultaneously helping them to take better care of the natural environment for everyone."
Like all Daihatsu passenger vehicles, both limited editions come with Daihatsu's 333 package of three years' warranty, three years' free servicing and three years' roadside assistance.
