Cirencester Town made light work of their heavy Smithsfield Stadium pitch last night, trouncing visiting Sutton Coldfield 4-0.

The Dr Martens Western Division game had been in some doubt after Saturday's scheduled clash with Chippenham bit the dust due to Ciren's ravaged playing surface.

Ciren officials worked tirelessly to get the game on though, and the players duly rewarded their efforts with a great win over a decent Sutton Coldfield outfit.

Dave Gee, Keith Knight and Andy Wollen posed the midlanders no end of problems, and the breakthrough came on 24 minutes.

Gee raced clear and had the vision to lob the on-rushing keeper from 30 yards.

Gee played a major role in Ciren's second too, crossing for Wollen who teed up Dave Godley from close range. Nathan Holt hit the third six minutes after the break after good work from James Blastland.

Goal number four came 12 minutes later when Blastland benefited from another Wollen knockdown.

The midlanders were reduced to 10-men in the closing stages to compound a miserable evening for the visiting side.

Chippenham Town's promotion drive remains on course, after a 2-0 win at Rocester.

Tommy Saunders' men played poorly and were made to wait by their lowly opponents.

For long periods, it looked like the Bluebirds would have to make do with an unsatisfactory point, but midfielder Mark Harrington came to the rescue 20 minutes from time.

Harrington latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the Rocester box and drove home crisply through a crowded area.

Town promptly relaxed, and Steve Tweddle doubled the lead eight minutes from time after Matt Rawlins sent the striker clean through.

Another three points moves Chippenham a step closer to their dream of Dr Martens Premier Division football, but It wasn't all good news.

Key men Gareth Davies and James Bent both hobbled from the field, and will be doubtful for Town's big easter weekend fixtures against Mangotsfield and Gloucester.

Melksham Town picked up a useful home win against Yeovil Reserves in the Screwfix Premier Division.

A Matty Messenger double put Robbie Lardner's men on course for a 2-1 win.

Kevin Banks put through his own net to give Yeovil a late consolation.

In the Hellenic Premier Division, Wootton Bassett slipped to another disappointing loss, going down 1-0 at home to Shortwood United.
