THERE was a front page story about there being no room in a school for a lot of children.
Then on pages 10-11, I read that a lovely building like the convent at the bottom of my garden will be pulled down for housing.
What a waste.
It doesn't say how many houses, but has anyone done their sums?
If they are to be family houses, maybe 50 with the grounds all around, each could have two to four children, a total of 100-200.
What school will they go to? Our locals are already chocoblock, with many double decker buses bringing children from other parts of Swindon who have no room in the schools where they live.
Wroughton is a lovely place to live. Everything so handy to most of us.
With more houses being built on the Front Garden, I think Swindon should build another school somewhere along the line.
Think first and foremost of our new generation.
I am old and have had a wonderful life.
I would like my grandchildren and great-grandchildren to have the same.
