CRUDWELL Primary School headteacher Barbara Harvey spent the last week of term before her retirement totally immersed in the school's activities.

Mrs Harvey, who retired on March 22, was one of a number of members of staff who took part in a bad hair day, organised by the school council.

It was an idea forwarded to the council by students, who wanted to raise cash and have a fun time.

School secretary Sue Cole said: "Everyone had a fun day and it was good to see Mrs Harvey enjoying the bad hair moments as well."

The school raised more than £80 for Diabetes UK.

Mrs Harvey, 53, has been at Crudwell Primary School for seven years and has been teaching since 1970.

The bad hair day is just one of many events the school has arranged to raise money for charity. The pupils also get involved in the nation's red nose day.

"There are about two or three things every year that the students organise and raise money for," said Mrs Cole.

The school will welcome new headteacher Lisa Tudor when pupils return from the two-week Easter break on April 8.
