MEMBERS of Pewsey Evergreens celebrated the golden anniversary of the pensioners' club with a party in the Bouverie Hall on Wednesday last week.
The club has just over 50 members and most attended the 50th birthday celebration party, where they also celebrated Easter by wearing the Easter bonnets they had made.
Chairman Mary Little said the club started in 1952 at the old Bouverie Hall and continued to be popular with the over-60s not only from Pewsey but also from surrounding villages.
Mrs Little, whose husband Philip is club secretary and outings organiser, said: "We go out once a month with shopping trips to places like Andover and the outlet village in Swindon."
In June, July and August members go to the coast for the day instead of shopping. Mrs Little is now planning a week's seaside holiday for the club.
The Evergreens meet in the Bouverie Hall, at 3.30pm on the third Wednesday of every month.
